 Hello Everyone! The Crafty Fairy Godmother is my YouTube Channel name. My plans are to post on a regular basis. I need to get much more  organized.  

Knitter's Square closing

I just recently read on Facebook that Knitter's Square is closing. I am surprised and confused.  We will no longer have a yarn shop in the area.  It truly makes me sad.

Nerdy Knittin'

When we moved my personal pink camo dice bag suffered water damage. I was not able to salvage it at all, so I washed my dice off and put them in a big zip lock bag when they were dry. We've been playing MTG with friends and I need my dice for life total and token counters. A dice bag is just a simple drawstring bag, but I enjoy making them. My mind has been spinning with ideas for embellishment. I will share the pictures as soon as they are completed

Super Bowl Sunday

I have been away from my blog for far too long. DH and I moved into our very own apartment a few months ago. We are still organizing. I have been doing some research on container gardening since we have a nice patio that gets the afternoon sun. Hmmm, fresh herbs, tomatoes and squash sound good. I just finished a hat of my own design. I am almost finished with a math cowl. I am getting back into designing. I lost my design note book 1 1/2 years ago when my Mom passed away. I miss my Mom. I was able to give her a prayer shawl that I made in her favorite color, red, the Christmas before she passed away. The pattern was Summer Flies. Well, the game is starting. The kitchen is clean and we're drinking sweet mint tea. DH is making shrimp alfredo during halftime. Life is good.

Adventures in Chunky yarn

I found a few skeins of chunky yarn in my stash. I hope to have a couple cowls when the dust settles. My first skirmish is with a ball of super chunky, so far it is winning. Ah, back to knitting...

It is finished!

I finally finished the cowl. When I finished weaving in the ends I lifted my arms and shouted "it is finished!" So  much has happened over the last few weeks and I haven't been in a good space. I lost my Mom, my MIL had emergency surgery, and it was the 1-year anniversary of my Grandmother's passing.  My health hasn't been at it's best. I think that things are turning around a bit.

Cowlitude

I am almost finished with a new cowl. I used bulky yarn & size 10 needle.

Cast on 120 stitches.
1:  knit 4 inches of 3x3 ribbing.
2:  knit 4 rows.
3:  purl 4 rows.
4:  knit 4 rows
5:  purl 4 rows
6:  knit 4 rows
7:  purl 4 rows
Bind off purlwise loosely.

Ok so much for the new blog. I am now able to write a post with my kindle. It is a little tricky. I am visiting my Mom in NC. She had a stroke. I have been working on a hat, a shawl, and a ruffle scarf. I will post more soon!

Single Skein Social

Tomorrow I am going up to Sonora with my friend Janice to By Hand Yarn.  We will be attending their Holiday Party and Single Skein Social.  It will be my 1st time attending the Single Skein Social and I am very excited!!!

Prayer Shawl and other knits

Well, I finished my Mother's prayer shawl a few days ago.  I need to block it.  I've also written a scarf/shawllette pattern that I hope to test knit soon.   Photos and pattern to be up in the near future.

I recently found out that I have bilateral cysts in my lumbar region and I am walking with a cane.  I also just went for xrays of both knees.  I have been diligently going to knitting in the last few weeks.  It helps raise my spirits and I get knitting projects finished!

Sock Therapy!

Well, I have picked out a lovely purple Crock-O-Dye sock yarn to start socks this Sunday at The Urban Sheep's Sunday Socks Appeal.  I am very excited because I haven't been able to knit socks at all this year.  My knitting in general has suffered recently due to health issues. 
I have been looking everywhere for my copy of Socks a La Carte: Pick And Choose Patterns To Knit Socks Your Way.  I love this book.  I may need to get another copy of it.  I think that I will need to find another pattern to knit.  I am really thinking about Bubble Wrap Socks.  I also have a copy of The Big Book of Socks: The Ultimate Beyond-The-Basics Guide to Knitting Socks to look through before I decide.  I am going to dig out my camera and take some photos of my beautiful new yarn and my cast on tomorrow.  I am so excited!!!!

Everyone Has a Calling!

I usually talk about knitting here, but I wanted to share something from Oprah's last show, What Oprah Knows for Sure.  It is a video, but for the life of me I could not figure out how to embed it here in my blog. 

Last week, I decided that I was going to knit baby sweaters because I enjoy making them.  I have lots of yarn that has been given to me over the last 2 years.  I have a free pattern, the basic newborn sweater, I have a desire to help little ones.  A hand knitted sweater is like a hug from someone far away.  My husband and I have talked for years about getting a big house and taking care for foster children.  It is a big part of our "Lottery Dream".  We live with relatives so it is not possible at the moment, but it will be possible someday.

Elizabeth, we will miss you!

Elisabeth Sladen is one of my favorite Dr Who Companions.  She is pictured here with Tom Baker.

Elisabeth Sladen died in the morning of 19th April, having been battling with cancer for some time. She is survived by her husband Brian Miller, and daughter Sadie.  She is missed!

I've been working on some consignment orders in the last few days.  I am knitting my second baby sleep sack.  I am also working on a new pattern for a baby sleep sack.  I hope to have the pattern written out for test knitting in the next week.
